I can be a Guinness World Records holder for being the unhappiest person on earth.

Also the happiest person on earth.

I couldn’t write anything for the last seven days. I opened Medium editor and Google Docs but even though it wasn’t blank, I couldn’t stare at it.

I was frustrated because I wasn’t making any progress. Today I read a story on happiness. I felt like writing again. I wrote. I felt good. And happy. Super-happy.

I reflected on my past experiences when I felt happy and realized a pattern.

Humans suck at measurement.

If you have a cake now and eat chocolate right away, you won’t enjoy it. Because both are sweet. But, if you have something else (like spicy noodles) after that cake, you’ll love it.

You have a great night sleep when you were the most tired last night. But when you aren’t tired, the sleep isn’t that satisfying. We all love to sleep so this should mean we should be satisfied whenever we get to sleep, right?

But we are not.

Happiness, taste, sleep is meaningless without contrast. The contrast gives it…
